- 1969 - Fred Krein begins in Calgary with a few small extruders making film and bag products. The company at this time is called Krico Manufacturing Ltd. and employs two people.
- 1989 - Injection Molding operation is added. Company moves into ATCO Industrial Park in SE Calgary. Company is renamed Specialty Plastics Inc. (SPI)
- 2002 - New ownership shifts focus towards strategic growth and expansion. The company is renamed The Plastics Place Inc (TPP) and moves into a new 14,000 sq foot facility in NE Calgary.
- 2004 - TPP enters the Plastics Recycling market with the purchase of a twin-screw repelletizing extruder system. Recycled materials now help to drive down input costs of manufacturing side of business by obtaining lower-cost feedstocks for production. Initial production 500k lbs/year.
- 2006 - TPP outgrows its NE Calgary facility and enters exclusive agreement with a Hutterite Brethren community near Bassano, Alberta establishing a new 25,000 sq foot manufacturing center to facilitate growth.
- TPP enters Product Destruction business working with major beverage brand companies in Western Canada. TPP obtains Alberta Environment approval of waste-water treatment facility associated with beverage destruction activity.
- TPP establishes mobile scrap processing team to recycle HDPE Pipe materials for regional pipe manufacturing facilities.
- 2007 - TPP purchases Leeson Polyfilms of Edmonton and integrates the business with TPP's existing bag/film business now supporting customers across the entire Province of Alberta. Edmonton warehouse established to support Northern Alberta customer base.
- 2008 - TPP enters Bubble Wrap and Poly Foam market--new 20,000 sq ft production facility established.
- TPP enters the Stretch Wrap/Pallet Wrap market--new 20,000 sq ft facility established.
- 2009 - TPP begins Grain Bag, Silage Bag recycling program across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Working cooperatively with Municipalities, TPP ensures Grain bags are kept out of regional land-fills.
- TPP Recycling plant embarks on major capital expansion increasing recycling capacity to over 35 Million lbs/year.
